How to Add a Property Watch a video demonstration

Before you can apply for permits or request inspections, you need to add the relevant property to your Project Page. Once you have added a property, any open permits on which you are an assigned contractor will appear below that property on your project page.

The Add Property Page

Click on the ADD A PROPERTY button at the top right of the Project Page to get to the Add Property Page.

Search for the Property

The property needs to be listed in the Building Department's database in order for you to add it to your Project Page. This form allows you to quickly and easily search the Building Department's database to find the property. For a quick and broad search, enter in the street number and the street name in the appropriate boxes. For example, to find 123 Main Street, you would put 123 in the Street Number box, leave the drop-down set to Starts With, put Main in the Street Name box, leave the Street Suffix drop-down set to Check All, and click Search.
If you are not exactly sure how the Building Department has spelled the street name, you may choose to search street names that start with, contain, or end with a particular phrase. For example, if you weren't sure if the Building Department spelled a street Marygold or Marigold, you could select Starts With from the Street Name drop-down, and put Mar in the Street Name box. Alternately, you could select Ends With from the Street Name drop-down, and put gold in the Street Name box. None of these searches are case-sensitive, so capitalization does not matter.
If you are having trouble retrieving a property that you are positive is in the database, please make sure that you are not putting the suffix in the street name (if you are searching for 123 Main St, the Street Name box should be set to Main and not Main St), and set the Street Suffix to Check All. You may also want to try leaving out the street number to search for every property on a particular street, or leave out the street name and search for all properties with a particular street number.
If the property you want to add is not listed in the Building Department's database, you will need to ask them to add it. However, if anyone has pulled a permit on a particular property since electronic record keeping began in your city or county building department, it will be in the database, so chances are good that the property can be found.
If your search turns up no properties that fit your search criteria, you may be given the option to Submit a New Property. Note that not all jurisdictions allow this option.

Select A Property From Search Results

Once you have searched for and found your property, click the Click to add button next to the property to add it to your Project Page. If you do not find your property, you can search again using the form at the bottom of this page.

That's It!

After you click the Click to add button, your ProjectPage will reload with the property added. If there are current permits associated with that property for which you're the contractor, applicant or owner, they'll already be listed.
For help on how to add permits, click on Apply For Permits at left.
